Artist statement:
Daria Koshkina is a multidisciplinary artist and visualization researcher working at the intersection of data art and figurative digital art. Her work focuses on how we are formed by the stories we are told, the concept of the pursuit of well-being, and specific contexts from within which women experience the world (e.g. immigrating from/to another country).
She specifically investigates how individual identities are shaped by power structures, oppression, displacement, and hope, and how the frameworks of self-support are shaped by cultural narratives and beloved stories. Through animation, digital painting, and data art, she explores how the reality of facts overlaps the subjective yet very real space of a personal experience.
